Trauma-Informed Therapy

Safety, choice, and pacing come first.

Trauma-informed telehealth therapy for Missouri adults and couples, built on the understanding that past experiences can shape the body, relationships, and sense of safety today.

You decide what we approach and when. That choice is part of the work.

What it means

A way of working that shapes every session.

Many people carry experiences that still shape how safe the world feels. Trauma-informed therapy asks what happened and what your mind and body learned in order to get through it, rather than asking what is wrong with you.

That shift changes how questions are asked, how quickly sessions move, and how much say you have over what is explored.

In sessions

You stay in charge of the pace.

You do not have to tell your full story to begin, and you can decline any question. Early sessions may focus on what is happening now, such as sleep, startle, numbness, or patterns in relationships, before turning toward the past.

Bethany watches for signs of overwhelm and helps you build ways to steady yourself, so harder conversations happen when there is enough support around them.

  • Clear consent before difficult topics
  • Grounding skills you can use anywhere
  • Room to pause or change direction
  • Respect for protective responses

Training and focus

Grounded in ongoing study.

Bethany is currently a doctoral student at Liberty University studying Traumatology, and trauma-informed principles shape her work with individuals and couples.

In couples sessions, that can mean understanding how one partner’s history affects reactions in the present without blaming either person.

More about this

Telehealth can add a layer of comfort as well: you attend from a private place in Missouri that you have chosen, in surroundings that already feel familiar.

Start at your own pace

Ask about trauma-informed therapy in a video consultation.

You do not need to share your history to ask a question. Bethany can explain how she paces trauma-informed work and what early sessions can include.
